I have Bf2 installed and works except its very very chopper nad i am using the same settings as in xp and it ran great. is there any reason for this or anything i can change or is it just cause its vista? anyone else have this problem?

BF2
my best guess is that it works slow because the drivers is not as good as the one for XP yet...
the Aero Glass could also take some of the computer power... and don't know if Vista takes more ram than XP

I did an "upgrade" install of Vista, I had all sorts of problems with BF2. I uninstalled BF then reinstalled the lot, BF2 SF and AF. It all works fine now in fact I recon that I'm getting an extra few FPS now under Vista. I have the latest nVidia drivers for the main nVidia site. I doesn't like Alt-Tab'ing bake to desktop so I recon I'm not going to be admin'ing the server for the clan now, but I recon I'll get that sorted soon enough...

Hmmm..here's my problem with BF2. I installed it on Windows XP Pro x64 and Windows Vista 64. They both run great with little to no problems. SO now I go and try it out on my Vista x86 which should be no sweat and it won't work. I had done the upgrade so I figured I'd uninstall it and re-install everything. Nope same deal, it trys tro load and crashes. Even when I use all the compatiblity modes. I don't get why it works fine on something it wasn't written for, plus on a dual core system, but on a P4HT 3.4GHz machine running a 32-bit version of Vista and not 64-bit, it won't work at all. Any help would be greatly appreciated. By the way it wouldn't run with it's shipping version or patch 1.3 so I'm at my wits end, I spent 5 hours installing and defraging and so on for no results.

I have also installed BF2 in the Vista x86 and found that it runs but it runs very poorly. It's like having a lot of lag when online. The conclusion I have reached is that we are running DX9 hardware and DX10 is trying to drive the hardware harder than it is able to accomidate. The solution here would seem to be a video card upgrade to one that supports DX10. "Stephen Sobchuk" wrote in message

I am running it on the 32 bit version and it seems to be running fine--now. I installed the Nvidia 88.61 drivers for Vista and it helped, but I still had a lot of hard drive activity slowing down the game. I installed another gig of ram and the game now runs just like it did in XP, no more slow downs waiting for the hard drive.
So, if you have the urge, add some memory and check. I'm running an GeForce 6800 GT.

BF2 plays now... loaded the Nvidia 6.14.10.8798. Sometimes it exits without warning when starting an on-line game. Single player works well now. Slow play is relative as the whole system is slower than XP Pro was... like you guys I was having withdrawl. :-)
Running Athlon X2 3800, 2 GB RAM, Nvidia 6600 PCIE. Steve B
